‘For as long as I can remember, picture books have influenced my life, from happy childhood memories of being read to, to collecting books for “art’s” sake, I love the creative potential of visual storytelling - I can’t imagine myself doing anything else’ — Nina Rycroft
In 1992, Nina graduated with a diploma in Graphic Design. She worked in Sydney and London before moving to Rome for nine months with her husband, Andy. After four years living overseas, Nina’s homesickness inspired the idea for her first picture book Little Platypus. Printed in 2000, Little Platypus received a CBCA notable book in 2001.
In 2003, Nina moved to the Blue Mountains, NSW, where she now lives with her husband and two children, Charlie and Jayme. Since the move Nina has had a number of books published, including Tricky Little Hippo (2004), Elephant Dance (2007), and Boom Bah! (2008).
The Windmill stage production of Boom Bah! toured Australia in 2008. In 2009, the tour reached Korea, Singapore and New Zealand as part of a literacy initiative between Windmill and the advertiser, Little Big Book Club. |
