CAROL THOMPSON was born in Stamford, England, and grew up in the village of Deeping St James. She remembers that loving drawing and painting and reading anything she could get her hands on, ‘from Black Beauty to the back of cereal boxes!’
Carol studied textile design at the Leicester College of Art and Design. She then worked in a graphic design studio, creating cards, giftwrap and Disney books.
When Carol became a freelance designer, a publisher commissioned four books that received the Mother Goose Award. Since then she has published forty-five books in fifteen languages. Her book A New Room for William (2000, written by Sally Grindley) won the US Oppenheim Gold Award.
Carol now lives in the town of Ashby de la Zouch with her husband and three sons. She usually has several book projects on the go. |
