Christine Harris
When Christine Harris was a girl she had an imaginary friend called Jennifer Hobbar. When Christine Harris was an adult she got in trouble for sitting on Wissy Bissy, her son’s imaginary friend.
Christine grew up in different parts of the South Australian Outback. When she lived in York Peninsula her house was ‘the first fridge on the right, 15k after the last pub’. As a child she would wander in creek beds and through ghost towns. Kangaroos would jump past the kitchen window and snake skins were sometimes found in the garden shed. She hated spinach and still does, the early morning sun is not her favourite thing either. Rather, Christine prefers Kookaburras and chocolate. Christine believes that the Outback is a place that you can’t just visit once. You will want to return to it again and again and again.
Author of numerous books for children, Christine is internationally loved. Some of her books include My Australian Story Outback and the Spy Girl series.
Audrey of the Outback is her first children's novel with Little Hare Books and is due for release in March 2008.
