About us
Little Hare Books is a boutique children’s book publisher founded by Rod and Mary Hare in 2000. Based in Sydney, Australia, it has worldwide reach, distributing its books into all English-language territories. Little Hare’s broad list ranges from board books for babies to fiction for upper primary readers and its titles are particularly known for their quality and appeal.

Awards
In 2009 we were proud to see a continuation of prestigious awards for titles published by Little Hare Books.
 
Audrey of the Outback, written by Christine Harris and illustrated by Ann James, was short-listed in the Younger Readers category of the 2009 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Possum and Wattle: My Big Book of Australian Words, written and illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft, was short-listed in the 2009 Australian Book Industry Awards.
 
Lucy Goosey, written by Margaret Wild and illustrated by Ann James, was named an Honour Book in the Early Childhood category of the 2008 Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year Awards.
 
The Brain Finds a Leg, written by Martin Chatterton, was short-listed in the Younger Readers category of the 2008 NSW Premier’s Awards.
 
Water Witcher, written and illustrated by Jan Ormerod, was short-listed in the Picture Book category of the 2007 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Run, Hare, Run! The Story of a Drawing, written and illustrated by John Winch, was short-listed in the Picture Book category of the 2006 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Kisses for Daddy, written by Frances Watts and illustrated by David Legge, was named an Honour Book in the Early Childhood category of the 2006 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Patterns of Australia, written and illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft, won The Wilderness Society’s Environment Award for Children’s Literature in 2006.
 
Nature Hunt, written and illustrated by Philip Blythe, also won The Wilderness Society’s Environment Award for Children’s Literature in 2006.
 
Lizzie Nonsense, written and illustrated by Jan Ormerod, was short-listed in the Picture Book category of the 2005 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Little Humpty, by Margaret Wild and Ann James, was named an Honour Book in the Early Childhood category of the 2004 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.
 
Old Tom Man of Mystery, written and illustrated by Leigh Hobbs, won the KANGA (South Australian Children’s Choice Award), the YABBA (Victorian Children’s Choice Award) and the KOALA (NSW Children’s Choice Award) for best Picture book in 2004.
 
Where in the World, written by Simon French, was short-listed in the Younger Readers category of the 2003 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards. It also won the 2003 Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and was named an Honour Book in the 2004 IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Awards.
